Mary Ruth White Burrell

Mary Ruth White Burrell went to be with the Lord, Friday morning, November 27, 2020 at the age of 76. She was born to the late Lawrence John White and Ruth Aldrich White in 1944, in Buffalo, New York. Mary graduated from Williamsville Central High School in 1962. Mary also attended Sacred Heart Academy during her early high school years and was a member of the National Honor Society her sophomore year. Mary wed David R. Burrell of Amherst, NY in 1963. Over the course of forty-seven years together, they lived in Buffalo, N.Y., Spartanburg, S.C., Baton Rouge, Slidell, and Abita Springs, LA. After David’s passing, Mary lived in Lacombe, LA before becoming a resident of Dunbar Village Living Facility in 2017. There she resided the last three years of her life. Mary spent her years working for various doctors before starting her own medical billing business. Mary worked for Dr. William Fisher, a neurologist in Baton Rouge. Mary also worked for Dr. William Bloom and other psychiatrists in the St. Tammany Parish area. Mary’s tenure over the years includes time spent at both River Oaks and Green Brier Hospitals. She also spent time volunteering/working at various churches in the Slidell area including New Jerusalem Praise and Worship Center and Church of Faith. Mary and David served together in various ministries and positions at Church of Faith, New Jerusalem, The Harvest and Church of the King. Mary also spent time mentoring both young women and newly married couples. During the last three years, Mary served, while residing at Dunbar Village Assisted Living facility. Mary served as the Resident Council President, led the Reminiscing Life Group, was an active member of the committee and was considered by many to be the village “Momma”. She was involved in everything at the Village. This was her ministry for the last three years. Mary is survived by her two sons, Stephen M. Burrell and his wife Jeannie Bell Burrell, and Andrew Mark “Dru” Burrell, her brother Lawrence White of Hilton, N.Y., sister in law Ruth B. Davis of Baldwinsville, N.Y; grandson Gary Eugene Sleap and his wife Katy Sleap, and their sons, Silas Elijah Schemanski, Liam Robert Sleap, and Rowen Adam Sleap, granddaughter Natalie Elizabeth Burrell and her husband Blaine Paul Gremillion, Jr. and their children Isabella Lea Gremillion, Adeline Jane Gremillion, Annalise Hope Gremillion, and Nathanael Paul Gremillion; grandson Korey Nathan Burrell and his wife Amber Tara O’Brien Burrell; grandson Aaron Michael Burrell; grandson Tyler Andrew Burrell and Haili Myrick, and their son Tyler Andrew “TJ” Burrell; Grandson Dillon Mark Burrell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews located all over the United States. In lieu of having a Memorial Service the family has set up a scholarship fund for the caregivers at Dunbar Village in Bay St. Louis, MS.
