Samuel Michael Foti

Samuel M. Foti, fondly known as Sam, passed away in the comfort of his home on April 19, 2024, at the age of 62 after a brief battle with cancer.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of more than 20 years Gayle, their three daughters, Sarah (Smitty), Rebecca, and Emma as well as eight beautiful grandchildren whom he adored so much.  He is also survived by his sister Trish, and brothers Vincent and Mark along with several nieces and nephews.

 Sam was predeceased by his parents, his sister Donna, and nephew Alan.

Sam held many titles in his life, but his favorite role was being a father.  Sam initially earned the title of father when he became the “step-up” dad to Sarah and Rebecca.  Joining a house full of teenage girls is not an easy task.  There were some bumps along the way, but it wasn’t too long before the unbreakable bond was formed between Sam, Sarah, and Rebecca.  In the midst of surviving those beloved teenage years, Sam and Gayle welcomed Emma Grace, Sam’s baby girl.  Sam was always there for his children, whether it was to offer a sound piece of advice from his workman’s shed, where he did his best thinking, or teaching his girls the proper way to take the most glorious afternoon naps – his zzzz’s could be heard throughout the house every Sunday.

Sam was meticulous nearly to a fault. Everything with Sam was very matter of fact-ly to the point where he knew if you even stepped foot in his shed and looked at something sideways.  He was precise in everything from hanging his clothes to tending to his cherished hobbies.  Sam approached each moment with a meticulousness that was both admirable and, at times, astonishing.  What was unique about this quality Sam possessed is that it stretched even into his relationships with others.  He always had a place for everyone, ensuring that each person felt valued, cherished, and included.

Professionally, Sam was a pillar in the diesel mechanic industry, having worked at Stewart & Stevenson for 23+ years.  His expertise was not only sought after in his role with mechanics, but also as a valued service manager.  Sam's work stands as a testament to his commitment to his profession and his exceptional skill.

Sam left us far too soon, but the story he leaves is one of dedication, love, and an unwavering commitment to his family. He will be deeply missed, but the seeds he planted in the hearts of those who knew him will continue to grow and flourish for generations to come.

 We will miss him terribly.
