Mr. George Henry Thomas

August 19, 1959 - June 8, 2018

George Henry Thomas, Jr., passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018, at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, Covington at the age of 58. Better known as "The Door Man." respected business owner of Discount Building Materials, Covington. An avid fisherman and hunter, always a friendly, smiling happy face to those who knew him well. You know he had your back if you were true and trusted. A gifted and artistic carpenter and soul. A heart that pretty much was an open door, an engine of horsepower to drive his life force, from waves and fishing poles to hammer and nails. George was a kind and loving husband, father, brother, son, grandfather, and friend and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Loving husband of Nayla Thomas for 26 years. Devoted father of Guy C. Thomas and Jonathyn A. Thomas. Grandfather of Dylon, Kyle, Kaitlyn, Juliette and one great grandson, Joseph. Brother of Charlene Grace Thomas Stabile, Lori Janell Firmin, Marshall Wade Thomas, Sr. and Harold Melan. Devoted Uncle to Misty D. Mostyn, Kristy Janell Stabile, Mindy Grace Stabile, Lindy Ann Bourlet, Daniel Wade Firmin, David Paul Firmin, Marshall Wade Thomas, Jr., Jonathan Thomas and great uncle of 15 nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his loving mother, Lydia Irene Schwander, his brother Christopher Mark Thomas, brother-in-law John Joseph "Johnny" Stabile, Aunt Annie and Uncle Nelson Campo and their sons, Peter and Nelson, Jr, his Grandmother Grace and William Schwander, and Frank Ace Thomas and his father-in-law Frank Adra. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at Serenity Funeral Home, 20419 Hwy. 36, Covington, on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Visitation starts at 5:00pm with the service at 7:00pm.
