Zdenek "Zap" Zapletal, 52, of LaPlace, Louisiana, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 27, 2026.  His family is deeply shocked and saddened by this tremendous loss.

Zdenek grew up in St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.  He was a devoted and loving father to his son, Zavaughn Zapletal, and a proud grandfather to his granddaughter, Zaveah Zapletal.  He is also survived by his sister, Kristhisha Zapletal; his brother-in-law, Enrique Schuster Sr.; and his beloved nieces and nephews, Nickhai Schuster and Enrique Schuster Jr.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Isabell Evans Zapletal.

Zdenek was happiest when surrounded by family and friends.  He loved them deeply and made sure they always knew it.  He offered unwavering support in all their interests, activities, and pursuits.  Above all else, family came first.  He was, quite simply, the best father.

He enjoyed spending time with loved ones, playing with his beloved dogs, working in his yard, and cooking for family and friends.  He was well known among those who knew him for his remarkable knowledge and appreciation of wine.  Zdenek's warmth, compassion, gentle spirit, and kind heart were evident to everyone he met.  If he loved you, you knew it.  His warm eyes, infectious smile, hearty laugh, comforting hugs, and generous nature will never be forgotten. His light shone brightly in the lives of so many.  He will be forever loved, deeply missed, and fondly remembered by all his family and friends.
