Wendell Odell Carpenter passed away on Monday, October 26, 2020 in Franklinton, LA at the age of 80. He was born in Columbus, Georgia and lived in Westwego, LA for most of his life, and has resided in Franklinton, LA for the past 15 years. Loving husband of Elaine Smith Carpenter for 57 years. Son of the late Robert Ethel Carpenter and the late Mary Louise Umphry. Mr. Wendell was raised by his mother Mary and his stepfather the late Mr. L. T. Haley after Wendell’s father Robert was killed in the allied invasion of Normandy in WWII. Father of Michelle Pitre (late Ricky Pitre), Rhonda Leveque, Wendy Tassin (late Michael J. Tassin, Sr.), and the late Thomas D. Carpenter. Brother of Mary Watson (Eddie Watson), Donnie Russell (Cindy Russell), the late Larry Carpenter, and the late Shirley LeBlanc. Grandfather of Christuina Hingle, Derrick Hingle, Randy Tassin, Jr., Justin Rayes, Elissa Stanley, Elaina Maise, Michael Tassin, Jr., David Gray, Christopher Pitre, Brooke Pitre, and 25 great grandchildren.
