Thomas Joseph “Tommy” Allo, Jr. went to be with Jesus on Thursday, April 25, 2024, in Slidell, LA, after a battle with Parkinsons disease and dementia for the last few years. He is survived by his beloved wife of over 52 years, Sheridan “Sheri” Russo Allo; his children, Darren Wayne Allo, Sr., and his wife, Nelly, as well as Thomas Joseph Allo III and his wife, Leslie; his loving grandchildren, Darren Wayne Allo, Jr. and his wife, Santana, Justin Floyd Allo and his wife, Konner, Thomas Joseph “TJ” Allo IV and his wife, Katie, Taylor Allo, Megan Allo, and his devoted step grandchildren, Elizabeth Leon, Jessica Thomas, and Carmine Poche. Tommy is also survived by his 6 great grandchildren.
Tommy is preceded in death by his beloved parents, the late Thomas J. Allo Sr. and Mary Ellen Beckmann Allo of Metairie, LA, as well as his brother, the late Ronald Joseph Allo of Metairie, LA. Tommy’s family are descendants of Ustica, Italy.
He worked for Kansas City Southern Railroad, from which he retired after 30 years of service as a diesel mechanic. After retiring, he enjoyed playing golf 4 days a week, walking 18 holes. He especially enjoyed playing at Abita Golf Course and was often on the course at daybreak.
He was a member of the Golf Coast Seniors Golf Club, the Romeo’s, and the Prime Timers. He loved to go to the Columbia Street block party to see all the antique cars, and he always wanted to restore one. He and Sheri also liked to bowl, and also enjoyed woodworking, even making a couple of pieces of furniture, Tommy always stayed busy, had lots of friends, and was always willing to help when someone called in need. He was a devout catholic and long time member of the Knights of Columbus.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Dr., Covington, LA on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 12:00 PM. Interment immediately followed at Greenwood Cemetery, New Orleans, LA. The family would like to especially thank Anderson Memory Care at Summerfield, Slidell, LA, as well as all of the CNA’s for their professionalism and loving care that they gave to Tommy. Arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Covington, LA.
