Bobby graduated Jesuit High School in New Orleans in 1960, then went on to graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, LA in 1964. In 1969, he received his JD from Loyola Law School in New Orleans. He was an attorney at Post, Reinhart & Rougelot law firm, next at Monroe & Lemann law firm, then Taggart, Morton, Ogden, Staub, Rougelot, Brocato & O’Brien. He was also a successful Mediator with MAPS – Mediation Arbitration Professional Systems, Inc., in Metairie, La.
Known by all as Bobby or Bob, he possessed a quick-witted humor and made everyone around him feel comfortable and at ease. A passionate and talented chef at home, cooking always brought the Rougelot family together. Any opportunity to have lunch or dinner at great restaurants with colleagues, friends, or family was always enjoyed. In his early adult years, he built and raced drag cars but always loved cars, racing, and the hobby. Also, in his earlier years commuting from Covington to New Orleans, and prior to the use of cell phones, he was fondly known as the “Red Baron” on CB radio.
An avid golfer, he enjoyed the game in many states and countries but mostly at his home course, Tchefuncta Country Club in Covington, where he once shot a “Hole in 1.” He was one of the founders of the West Florida Invitational (WFI) golf tournament. In Dec 1998, an unfortunate car accident halted his play of the game. Bobby continued watching Golf, car racing, LSU sports & Saints football, and cooking shows for the remainder of his years.
