Richard Honeycutt Obituary

Richard Honeycutt passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 21, 2014, with his family by his side.

Born in Relief, North Carolina, Richard volunteered with the Army Air Corps in July 1941. He spent most of his military service in Europe and was awarded a Bronze Service Star in recognition of his devoted service to his country. Following his separation from the military, he worked in the construction industry and was later employed by City Glass of New Orleans and Dependable Glass Works in Covington until his retirement.

Richard was a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was the beloved husband of Marie Boudreaux Honeycutt for 68 years.

He was the devoted father and father-in-law of Alan R. Honeycutt (Linda), Frank J. Honeycutt (Suzanne), Russell M. Honeycutt (Kim), Roy J. Honeycutt (Kitty), and Polly Honeycutt.

Richard was the brother of Jack Honeycutt (Cassie), Geneva Street Anderson (Dave), and Grover Honeycutt (Helen), and the late Maude, Gladys, Thelma, Myrtle, Mary, Jake, Beatrice, and Mamie. He was also the brother-in-law of Lena Honeycutt and Ike Miller.

He was the son of the late Grover and Julia Edwards Honeycutt.

Richard was the proud grandfather of Jessica, Joshua, Aaron, Stephen, Stephanie, Danica, Cameron, Jarrison, Chaley, Sarah, Nathan, Lacey, and Chad. He was also blessed with 22 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers that donations be made to the St. Tammany Council on Aging.

Richard's legacy of love, service, and dedication to family will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
