Reuben (Jr.) Wallen

Reuben Wallen, Jr. passed away peacefully in Slidell, LA on Saturday, September 20, 2025. A native of McCurtain, OK, and resident of Pearl River, LA, age 82 years.

Beloved husband for over 58 years of Linda L. Wallen. Loving father of Autumn Wallen Martin and Anthony O. Wallen(Stephanie). Devoted grandfather of Madison(Caleb), Grace, Makayla, and Eian. Loving great grandfather of Arya, Isabelle, and Leo. Devoted brother of Vera Thompson( Bob), and Linda Hamilton(Barry). Reuben is preceded in death by his parents, Reuben and Ruby Marie Wallen Sr., his siblings, Leonard “Sonny” Wallen, Jesse Wallen, Kenneth Wallen, Sue Wills, and Don Wallen, as well as his late grandson, Colby.

In his early years, Rueben loved being in the wilderness, hunting and fishing, and enjoyed golfing. He lived in several states throughout his life, meeting Linda, the love of his life, in California, and they eventually found their final home in Louisiana for the last 47 years. Reuben was a veteran who honorably served his country in the U. S. Army. Proud of his Native American heritage, he was a member of the Choctaw Nation. He loved the carpentry profession, and in his retired years, he never stopped building things. He loved poetry and adored his family. He took great pride in being a grandpa and loved spending time with his grandchildren. 

Private committal at the Southeast LA Veterans Cemetery held. Relatives and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life for Reuben at Open Arms Church, 1340 8th St., Slidell, LA on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at 4:00 PM with gathering beginning at 3:00 PM.
