Philip Bruce Read

Philip Bruce Read, 62, of Lafayette, La., passed away peacefully on Friday, September 26, 2025, in Baton Rouge, La.  He was a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and a resident of Lafayette, La.  Philip grew up in Upland, Pa. where he was raised by his adoptive parents.  He attended Philadelphia Textile College earning a Degree in Textile Design and spent most of his working life as a technical design manager for mattresses and fabrics including knits and wovens, at Blumenthal Printworks in New Orleans, La.  Philip had a very strong work ethic and was a talented Artist when it came to building and small projects including making additions to his family’s home in Gretna, La., as well as drawing freehand.  He was a loving Father and proud Grandfather.  He hardly missed a moment to tease or joke with his girls as they were growing up, and treasured the times he got to be with and admire his grandchildren.

Philip was preceded in death by his Parents, Mathew & Betty Thompson Read.

He is survived by his Triplet Daughters, Christine Read Torres and husband Aaron of Mandeville, La., Alexandra Read of Slidell, La. Victoria Read Denson and husband Matthew of Petal, Ms., Sister, Laurie Newton of Ocean City, Maryland, 5 Grandchildren, Zoey, Emily, Jacob, Eden, Nathan, and numerous friends and family.

Arrangements are entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Covington, La.
