Peter Torrey Obituary
Peter Torrey, 74, of Mandeville, LA passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 23, 2022.
Peter was born in 1947 in Syracuse, NY to Frank and Margaret Torrey. He grew up in North Syracuse and attended CW Post College, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He went on to get his Masters degree in Personnel and Educational Counseling at Miami University of Ohio where he met his wife Carol Cheselka Torrey. Together they raised two daughters. Peter was a strong, kind, loving, and supportive husband and father. He was a passionate craftsman and expert handyman who could be found working on various projects for his family and grandkids, or teaching his daughters how to refurbish and refinish furniture in his free time! When the girls were young, he donated and devoted his time to coaching them in every sport possible!
Peter was predeceased by his parents Nye Francis Torrey and Margaret Torrey. He is survived by his wife Carol Torrey, his daughters Alexandra Douglass and Alanna Hewitt (husband Jonathan Hewitt), two grandchildren Abigail Douglass and Charles Hewitt, his brother Paul Torrey (wife Janet, three children, and six grandchildren), and his sister Margot Boland (husband Tim, four children, and seven grandchildren).
Pete will be dearly missed and always remembered.
Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM with a Memorial Service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 2480 U. S. Hwy. 190, Mandeville, LA 70448. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to STARC (St Tammany ARC), or the National Park Foundation.
