Paula Stahls Jordan was born in 1945 in Shreveport, Louisiana where she attended St. Vincent’s Academy for 12 years followed by 5 years at Centenary College where she earned Bachelor Degrees in Speech and History while participating in stage plays on campus as well as in London, Wales and Pineville, Kentucky. Her first job after graduating from college was with KTBS-TV, copywriting, and on-screen talent on the Bozo franchise at that Shreveport television station. That is where she met and married Ken Jordan in 1969—they were married for 56 years. Subsequently she wrote and produced advertising for radio, television, and print in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Greensboro, North Carolina. In 1979 she wrote “Women of Guilford,” documenting the contributions of women in Guilford County, North Carolina 1790-1979. She also wrote technical documentation for Gilbarco, a subsidiary of Exxon. Subsequently she earned a BS in Physics from Guilford College and moved to Silver Spring, Maryland to work for NOAA and NASA through Computer Sciences Corporation as an Orbital Analyst, plotting trajectories for unmanned space flights and satellites. She subsequently retired and moved to Lake Lure, North Carolina where she was an active volunteer for the town, assisting in the production of multiple environmental ordinances. Later she concentrated on writing fiction and science fiction and attending science fiction conventions throughout the United States until health issues interfered. In 2022, she and her husband moved to Abita Springs, Louisiana to be near family. She leaves behind her brother, Paul Stahls Jr., his wife, Peggy Coleman Stahls, two nephews, Matthew, Paul III, and his wife, Kelly, a Grand Niece Virginia, two Grand Nephews, Paul IV and Charles and a group of amazing friends, Joy Funke, Breanna Varnado, Cindy Roy, Paula Horkavi—and The Fambly (sic)—formed in 1975 at a Feast of Friends in Jamestown, NC.
