McManus Barstow, her brother, William Tracy Barstow, Sr., her sister, Beverly B. Myers, her nephew John Robert Hymel, her brother in law, Norman P. Hymel, and her great niece, Christine Myers.
Pat was born in Houma Louisiana, and with her brother Tracy and sisters, Beverly and Merry, lived briefly in New Iberia before the family settled in Opelousas. She attended Academy of the Immaculate Conception for her Freshman and Sophomore years, before attending Opelousas High School for her Junior and Senior years. It was there that she met her future husband, William S. 'Bill' Elder. After 2 years at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, she and Bill were married and eventually moved to New Orleans after he took his position at CBS affiliate WWL Television News. They raised their family in Algiers, first in the Old Aurora neighborhood, then in Tall Timbers, where Pat met most of her closest lifelong friends, with whom she shared family life, camaraderie, and pursuits ever since.
Toward the end of the 80's she met and married G. Peter Robbins, III(1940-2015), and settled in Uptown New Orleans. Pat and Peter enjoyed cooking and gastronomy, fine wine, travelling to Europe, and visiting with friends for over 25 years. Most importantly, together they shared a deep Christian faith and devotion, actively serving as Docents at St. Patrick's Church on Camp St., and were both awarded the Order of St. Louis IX medallion for service to the Archdiocese of New Orleans and the local Church. She, along with her sister and late brother in law, Merry and Norman Hymel, actively served in the Come, Lord Jesus! Faith Formation group that originated out of the Diocese of Lafayette over 30 years ago. Pat was also a coordinator for the Lord Teach Me To Pray prayer formation group that focuses on Ignatian spirituality. She attended Mass daily, voraciously read and studied scripture, and was dedicated to the practice of the Rosary for over 30 years.
Pat was well known for her strong tennis game, and loved gardening; she and her son Stan transformed the austere back of her house into an oasis of life, color and joy.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 631 State St., New Orleans, LA on Tuesday, July 22, 2025 at 11:00 AM, with Visitation beginning at 9:30 AM and Rosary at 10:30 AM.
