Monique Poissenot was born on Friday, January 28th, 1977 to Emile and Patricia Poisssenot in New Orleans, LA. Monique passed away peacefully in her sleep Sunday, February 18th, 2023 in the comfort of her home and surrounded by her loving family. Despite her long battle with several physical and neurological conditions, her passing came unexpectedly for her loved ones, and she will be duly missed. Dreaming of a career in journalism from a young age, Monique became the first person in her direct family to graduate college with a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Loyola University. Hailing from a proud working-class family, Monique worked in the hotel industry to put herself through college and graduated with honors from Loyola University. Finding great success due to her charming personality and industrious work ethic, Monique quickly rose through the ranks of management at the Intercontinental in New Orleans and decided to stay in her field after graduating college. Due to unforeseen medical complications, she was forced to retire at an early age, but left a lasting legacy as a dedicated and dependable staff member. An avid dog lover, Monique recently lost her dog Sonny of 15 years, whom she was seldom seen without. Not soon after she took on another puppy to love, Button, in whom her memory and loving personality lives on today. Despite her physical limitations, she loved to be outside, and some of her fondest memories were taking trips to the beach with her friends and exploring the active cultural scene in her beloved city of New Orleans whenever possible. Monique is survived by her parents Emile and Patricia Poissenot and her son Devin, with whom she was very close. Our Catholic Mass and celebration of Monique’s life will take place Wednesday, March 6, Mass will be held at 12:00 PM with the Visitation at 11:00 AM at Mary Queen of Peace Catholic Church at 1501 W Causeway Approach, Mandeville, LA 70471. If you would like to show your support but are unable to attend, the family is accepting floral donations to be sent to this address in lieu of your presence. “It is too soon to lose the person you love most in this world, whether you have them for one day or for a thousand years, but I know that she is in a better place, free of pain, surrounded by loved ones, and basking forever more in the light that is God’s eternal embrace.” -Devin Michael Poissenot
