Matthew Austin Templin, 49, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026 of congestive heart failure. Matt was raised in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he graduated from Captain Shreve High School in 1995. He grew up in the Town South Neighborhood with a tightly knit group of friends who rode bikes until the street lights came on, swam on the local swim team and engaged in general shenanigans like catching crawdads, tadpoles and turtles in the ditch.  He also spent much of his childhood enjoying time with family on the houseboat at Lake Bistineau. Matt’s adventurous spirit remained throughout his life.  He joined the United States Marine Corps where he served his country while traveling to far away lands.  He was an excellent marksman and shared fond memories shooting with his friend Mike.  The friendships that Matt acquired throughout his life led him to move several times from Louisiana to Texas to Florida, where most of his family now resides.  He had plans to visit  Fredericksburg, Texas before suffering an acute medical event in early June.

Matthew was preceded in death by his mother, Molly Biggs Templin, grandmothers Geneva Williamson Biggs and Lora Bell Aldridge and grandfathers Charles F. Biggs and Tex Aldridge, and his Great Aunt Hazel “Baba” Casey.   Survivors include his father, Henry R. Templin; his brother, Paul Templin and wife Julie; his sister Katherine Templin Culbert and husband JD Culbert; and half-sister, Debbie Recio;  nephews Desmond and Casey Culbert and William Templin and niece Vivian Templin; Ex-wife Roxanne Hensley; cousins Melinda Lumus Buchanan, Rhonda Kevlin, Bryan Templin and Christian and Derick Biggs. 

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Humane Society in honor of Matt’s beloved feline pal, Roux.
