Marcus Edward Phillips

Marcus Edward Phillips, 49, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away peacefully in his sleep on June 10, 2024.

Marc was born on December 3, 1974, in Mobile, Alabama, to Paul and Tricia Phillips.  While he grew up and lived his life in the greater New Orleans area, he stayed true to his roots and was an avid lifelong fan of the University of Alabama sports teams.

Marc was the second of four sons.  The boys grew up playing sports together, especially tennis.  His brothers have fond memories of riding their bikes to the tennis courts, or simply playing "driveway mini-tennis," a game of murky rules that kept them entertained for hours.  Marc was a natural athlete and the ultimate sports fan. No one knew more sports news and trivia than Marc.

Marc attended Kehoe France School in Metairie before the family moved to the Northshore.  There he attended Mandeville Junior High, Mandeville High School and Southeastern Louisiana University.  He dedicated his career to the family business, Paul Phillips and Associates' franchise of Dale Carnegie Training.  Marc started with Dale Carnegie in 1995 and managed the franchise's marketing efforts.  In his nearly thirty years in the business, he served as a friend, mentor, and companion to thousands of Dale Carnegie graduates.  His father took great pride and pleasure in working with two of his sons and closest friends.

Marc had a wonderful sense of humor.  At family gatherings, you could count on hearing Marc laughing at a joke or talking about one of his favorite bands.  He loved Italian food and his mother's cooking.  He loved animals, especially his own dog, and donated to the SPCA.

Marc is survived by his Parents, Paul and Tricia Phillips of Mandeville, La., Brothers and Sisters-in-Law, Brian and Rebecca Phillips of New Orleans, La., Chad and Sarah Phillips of Davidson, North Carolina, Lee and Lorenza Phillips of McKinleyville, California, and several Nieces, Nephews, Uncles, Aunts, and Cousins.  He was a beloved family member and will be greatly missed by all who loved him.

The family held a private Celebration of Marc's Life.  In memory of Marc, share a hug with someone you love. Life is sometimes shorter than we may be prepared for.
