Lilia Jane (Varnado) Martin

“Her Journey”

Don’t think of her as gone away her journeys just begun, life holds so many facets this earth is only one. 

And think of her as living in the hearts of those she touched, for nothing loved is ever lost, and she was loved so much. 

Lilia Jane Martin (Varnado) resided in Covington Louisiana.  She was born October 30, 1947, to the late Thomas Varnado and Sedonia (Dawson) Varnado.

She departed this life on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at a local hospital in Covington, Louisiana.

Lilia was united in holy matrimony to James A Martin Sr. On June 20, 1969, to this union four children were born.  Tonya Ramsey (Edward); James, A Martin, Jr.; Nicole Yolanda Abram (Curtis); Sedonia Thompson.

Lilia was a dedicated homemaker, loving wife, mother, and grandmother.  When it came to her family she loved fiercely and unconditionally.  We will miss her feisty, large, and in-charge attitude.

She leaves to cherish her memories a loving Sister, Brenda Price; Brother, Peter Varnado; God Daughter, Lillie Magee; Aunt, Linda Garrett; Aunt, Jenny Garrett; and Dear Friend, Frances Brumfield; thirteen grandchildren; nine great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Lilia was proceeded in death by her Parents, Grandmother Lilia B. Varnado, and Aunt Augustine Burris.

The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM Thursday, October 12, 2023, with a Memorial Service at 12:00 P.M. in Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 20419 Hwy. 36, Covington, La. 70433.  Pastor John Sullivan will officiate.

Cremation is entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Covington, La.
