Laurette Hemstad

Laurette Adele Daniel Hemstad passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Slidell Memorial Hospital at the age of 56. Born in New Orleans, a lifelong resident of Abita Springs, graduated from St. Scholastica Academy in 1976 and attended Nicholls State University, Thibodaux, LA. Laurette was a lover of poetry and had a passion and talent for putting her thoughts on paper. She was also a gifted artist and a licensed florist where she designed with her dear and long time friend Christine Brignac. Daughter of the late H.A. and Grace C. Daniel. Devoted mother of Seth Hemstad (Tiffani), Jared Hemstad and Bryce Hemstad. Sister of Allanagh Sewell (Jim), Shannon Daniel, Fabian Daniel (Susie), Brendan Daniel (Jeannie) and Kieran Daniel (Gayle). Grandmother of Desire', Graceon, Lance, Kayla, Baily, Jasmin and Gabrielle . Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to the St. Tammany Humane Society.
