It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Kathy G. Dyess on December 2, 2024. Kathy was born on August 22, 1957 in New Orleans, LA and was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. After graduating from Andrew Jackson High School, she worked for the St. Bernard Parish Government Water Board as a purchasing clerk. Kathy was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, love and support of her family. Her granddaughters were the greatest joy of her life. She loved playing cards and board games with them, taking them to the park, swinging with them, going for walks and teaching them how to ride bikes. She was a devout parishioner of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Chalmette where she was a member of the OLPS Choir. She loved to read but singing was her passion, especially singing for our Lord and Savior. Her courage through her cancer illness was incomparable to any I have seen. Choosing only her faith, without any conventional medical treatment, to get through her pain and other cancer issues.
Preceded in joining the Lord were her mother and father, Stella and Carlo Gioe, her brother Keith Gioe and brothers-in-law James Klein and Allen Lee.
She is survived by one daughter, Amanda Dyess, two granddaughters, Aubrey and Avery Dyess, sisters Gayle Klein, Judith Lee, Pauline Gioe, Laura Reilly (Gerard), brothers Ferrel Gioe (Lois), Ronald Gioe (Helen) and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
As we struggle with the loss of her physical presence, we find solace in knowing her spirit lives on through the love she instilled in us.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, December 13, 2024 at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA with Visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 PM. Interment to follow at St. Bernard Memorial Gardens, 701 W. Virtue St. Chalmette, LA.
