Katherine Alma (Billiot) Pontiff

Katherine Alma Billiot Roberson Pontiff was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on June 24, 2024, at age 96.

She was born to Charles Lovency L'Artigues Billiot and Loasia Marguerite Verdin on January 17, 1928, the sixth of twelve children.  She attended Fisher Middle School in Lafitte, Louisiana.  Katherine met her husband, Albert Loyd Roberson, of Charleston, S Carolina in Lafitte, Louisiana.  Together, they had 2 children: Lora and Roy.  They divorced in 1963. Katherine married for the second time to Alcie Joseph Pontiff in 1970. 

Katherine is survived by her son Roy Roberson, two brothers, Edison Adam Arthur Joseph Billiot and Charles Lovance Billiot, two sisters, Bevelin Rosalie Billiot Chautin and Theresa Rita Billiot Templet, one half sister, Mary Ann Ronquille Landry, nine grandchildren, seven 1st great grandchildren, and three 2nd great grandchildren.

Katherine loved spending time in her vegetable garden and kitchen cooking what she grew and creating delicious meals for her family.  Her children and grandchildren would gather around the kitchen table where they loved listening to Katherine’s stories about growing up in Lafitte, her life in Charleston, S Carolina and New Orleans, Louisiana. 

A Celebration of Life is planned by her family sometime in the future.  In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association on her behalf.
