Karen Margiotta Obituary
Karen Ann Margiotta, 64, of Chalmette LA passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at her home.
Karen was born in 1957 and was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish. She graduated from Andrew Jackson High School. She enjoyed shopping, crocheting, walks with her fur baby (Lexi), beach trips with her family and Sunday dinners with her kids. She especially loved her role as Maw Maw, as her only granddaughter Gabi, was the apple of her eye. While she enjoyed spending time with her doing various things, laughing with her at anything and everything was her favorite. She was so proud of her children and granddaughter and bragged about them to anyone who would listen. Karen was a friend to all who knew her. She loved being around people and enjoyed life to the fullest. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She will be missed by a countless amount of friends.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Margiotta, and her father Anthony “AJ” Margiotta.
She is survived by her loving son Keith Battaglia, Jr. (Becky), and daughter Kelly Battaglia; adoring granddaughter Gabrielle Battaglia; sisters Pam Abney (Danny), and Laurie Gioia (Chad); godmother Mary Cardona; nieces Kristen Abney, Candice Schrameyer (Jordan), Lainey Gioia, and Taylor Gioia; great aunt to Aubrey, Caiden, and Kenley; fur baby Lexi; and her longtime friend Johnny.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Karen’s life with a Memorial Service at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church, 2320 Paris Rd., Chalmette, LA 70043 on Friday, April 8, 2022 at 9:30 AM. Visitation will begin at 9:30 AM with Mass to follow.
Reception to follow at Rocky & Carlo’s Sicilian Room, 613 W. St Bernard Hwy., Chalmette, LA 70043.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St Bernard Battered Women’s Shelter P.O. Box 7, Arabi, LA 70032.
