Joseph Anthony Lagreco, 88, of Slidell, La., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was a native of Braithwaite, La. and a resident of Slidell, La. Joe was a United States Army Veteran. He was a Parishioner of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Slidell, La. Joe retired as Board Operator from Air Products Industrial Gas after over 30 Years. He also loved farming and continued to farm after his retirement. Joe loved his gumbo, his orange trees and did I say Farming. You could usually find him working on his tractor or figuring out a way to spoil his grandchildren. Grandpa was a great man, something he always taught his children growing up. Joe was a true man of adversity to be able to live through all he’s lived through and be able to get back up and work the way he did for so long.
He is preceded in death by his Parents, Anthony & Annie DiCarlo Lagreco, Brother, Thomas Lagreco and Sister-In-Law, Marie Lagreco.
Joe is survived by his Wife of 63 Years. Linda Mustacchia Lagreco of Slidell, La., Son, Joseph Lagreco & wife Stephanie of Pearl River, La., Daughters, Pamela Chambers & husband Troy of Slidell, La., Monica Mayer of Slidell, La., Brothers, Anthony Lagreco Jr. of Braithwaite, La., Emile Lagreco & wife Claudia of Metairie, La., 5 Grandchildren, Joshua, Matthew, Lindsay, Joseph “J.P.”, Alex and Great Grandson, Asher.

HERBICIDE by Matthew Chambers
Grandpa dumps water into the jug of blue
Goop, then pours the concoction into
White primer, churning until globs
Of white consume the blue.
We scramble in circles, bent over
And beating orange trees with brushes
To protect them. Their bases are cloaked with white like
Gravestones, short and marbled in long rows.
Grandpa points. Forget this one. Trim, bare branches
Stretch to the clouds like the veins on his hands.
Arrangements are entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Covington, La.
