Joseph Gaston Constant Jr.

Joseph Gaston “Joe” Constant, Jr., affectionately known as Joe, passed away on July 31, 2025, at the age of 76 in Covington, Louisiana.  A proud Vietnam War veteran, Joe served in the U.S. Army, where he was wounded in combat and awarded both the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star Medal for his bravery and dedication.

Born at home in Fifth Ward, Louisiana, on October 30, 1948, Joe was one of eight siblings.  He joined the Army at 20, later returned home to raise a family, and worked in jobs that took him across the country, including a memorable time on the Alaska pipeline before settling into a 20 year career with the U.S. Postal Service in southeast Louisiana.

In retirement, Joe found joy in woodworking, gardening, and watching his grandchildren grow up.  Quiet but steady, he was known for his dry wit, stubborn strength, and deep pride in his children especially their academic and military accomplishments, which meant a great deal to him.

Joe is survived by his Wife, Susan Constant, Children, Rebecca Riche (Patrick), Rachael Bourn (Patrick), Joseph G. Constant III (Jessica), Julie Williams (Christopher); Grandchildren, Alexis, Logan, Natalie, Garrett, Lucas, Joseph, Richard, Helen, Tyler, MacKenzie, Cheyanne, Great Grandchildren, Adalyn, Kyler, Jensen, Sisters, Evelyn Dauzat and Patsy Constant.

He was preceded in death by his Parents, Joseph G. Constant, Sr. & Media Constant, Siblings, Edward, Jean Albert, Jason, and Charles Constant.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, August 16, 2025, at 9:30 AM with a funeral service at 11:00 AM at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 20419 Hwy. 36, Covington, La. 70433.  Inurnment will follow at a later date.
