Jerritt Labat Obituary

Jerritt Ray Labat, 27, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, September 4, 2023, in St. Bernard, La.  He was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard La.  Jerritt graduated from Chalmette High School, Class of 2014, he attended Nunez Community college for Welding and was a member of the Catholic faith.  He formerly was employed at Associated Terminals in St. Bernard, La.  Jerritt enjoyed hunting, fishing, gym training, riding 4-wheelers/dirt bikes and music.  He loved doing everything with his PawPaw Robert. Jerritt was adamant about taking care of his MawMaw Judy, chasing her around the house with her inhalers. His greatest joy was swimming, feeding the ducks at the park and looking for Bigfoot with his daughter. She was absolutely perfect to him; he was amazed at how smart and beautiful she was.

Jerritt would light up every room he entered, his gorgeous smile and contagious laugh was undeniable. His heart was as big as his smile and his love for his family and friends was even bigger. His silly nature and willingness to entertain was enjoyed by all.

He is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, Robert Labat and Paternal Grandfather, Donald Hutchinson Sr.

Jerritt is survived by his daughter, Remi Rose Nunez Labat of Marrero, La., Mother, Roxanne Labat of St. Bernard, La., Father, Donald Ray Hutchinson Jr. of Port Vincent, La., Maternal Grandmother, Judy Labat of St. Bernard, La., Paternal Grandmother, Glenda Hutchinson of Baton Rouge, La., lifelong friend and the love of his life Jaslyn Boudoin of Marrero, La., his Aunt Lisa and Uncle Steve Losby, his Nanny Shawn Melerine and numerous other family members.

Jerritts favorite quote:  “Remember before you sleep it’s ok to not be ok. We all have our struggles, God loves you for who you are, but too much to leave you that way. “

Jerritts favorite prayer:  God grant me the Serenity to accept the things I cannot change; Courage to change the things I can; And wisdom to know the difference. ... Forever and ever in the next. Amen.

From Mom: you were the light of my life; you were my moon and stars. My world is so much dimmer without you in it. I will always and forever love you my beautiful boy. You fought so hard for so long, it’s time for you to rest now and know you will never be forgotten.

Mental illness/ Drug Addiction have become an epidemic and is only getting worse. If you have a loved one suffering from either, please reach out for help and say a prayer for them. Remind them that they are loved every day.
