Glenn M. Cotty, Jr. passed away peacefully at home in Covington on May 6, 2025 in the arms of his wife of 21 years, Florence Young Cotty. He is also survived by his daughter, Samantha Cotty and stepchildren, Mary Huval and Jacob Carson. He is also survived by his grandchildren Kayleigh and Rey Rios, and great-grandson, D'Angelo.
Glenn was born in New Orleans, Louisiana to Glenn M. Cotty, Sr. and Wilma Lou (Bagwell) Cotty and spent most of his youth in Slidell, Louisiana. He attended Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, Louisiana for one year, after which he enlisted in the United States Navy. He served as an aircraft mechanic on the U.S.S. John F. Kennedy, which cruised the Mediterranean Sea. After his discharge from the Navy he was employed by Lockheed Martin as an Engineer for 30 years, fulfilling a lifelong dream of being a participant in the space program. After retiring in 2010, he enjoyed his years of retirement engaging in numerous hobbies, including carpentry, photography, making and flying model airplanes and drones, camping, boating and fishing, and participating in NRA rifle competitions along with his wife, Florence. Glenn also loved observing the wildlife in the woods and swamps surrounding his home in Covington.
Glenn was previously married to Sharron Russell (deceased), with whom he shared his daughter, Samantha.
Glenn was an organ donor and would encourage others to commit to this greatly-needed sacrifice. His favorite charity was the Paralyzed Veterans of America. Family requests that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to this charity in his memory. A Memorial Service will be held privately at a date yet to be determined by the family.
