She was born to the late Frances and Edmund Badeaux Sr. in New Orleans and was the youngest of four children. She was the little sister to the late Edmund “Junior”, Robert “Bob”, and Melvin “Corky” Badeaux. Gladys married her dancing sweetheart the late Joseph “Joe” J. Chastant Sr. and went on to have three children Joseph “Joey” J. Chastant, Jr., Kathleen “Kathy” C. Waguespack (Susan), her forever son-in-law Mike, and Doreen “Dee” C. Montalbano (Jeff). She was a loving, caring and devoted grandmother to her 5 grandchildren Mindy Torres (Ryan), Eric Waguespack, Braden Montalbano (Jonathan), Brandon Montalbano (Sarah) and Bryce Montalbano. Along with her 5 grandchildren Gladys was blessed with 6 great grandchildren Adisyn Torres, Cade Torres, Cole Torres, Harper Montalbano, Lily Montalbano and Wesley Montalbano. She always enjoyed cooking everyone's favorite dish for the weekly family gatherings. Her family was everything to her, she especially loved being a grandmother and great-grandmother. Gladys was a hairdresser for more than forty years. She loved her job, and her clients were welcomed as family. Before she became ill, she enjoyed having fun with her family, shopping, reading her prayer books, watching tv, cheering for the N.O. Saints, playing bingo, casino trips, and long car rides.
She will be sadly missed by all who were blessed to know her. A special thank you to the team of Heritage Manor of Mandeville and St. Catherine’s Hospice for their care and support.
