Gerald Guy Francois Sr.

Gerald “Ponch” Guy Francois Sr., 63, of Covington, La. passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 27, 2024, with his wife by his side.  He was a native of New Orleans, La. and a resident of Covington, La.  Ponch grew up in Chalmette, La., graduating from Chalmette High School and then attending college.  He became a Master Electrician and was also a Welder, Mechanic, Plumber and Carpenter.  Ponch enjoyed oyster dredging, fishing, being in nature, watching eagles, cooking and spending time with his children, family and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his Father, Oliver Francois and Mother, Hazel Dardare.

Ponch is survived by his Wife, Gladys Odom Francois of Covington, La., Sons, Gerald Francois Jr. and Fiancée Renae of Covington, La., Dr. Zachariah Francois of Lafayette, La., Chad Brouillette and wife Samantha of New Orleans, La., Brothers, Brian Francois of Chalmette, La., Keith Francois of New York, Sisters, Linda Francois Moran of Chalmette, La., Jeanette Francois Wortmann of Abbeville, La. and numerous other family members and friends.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 2, 2024, at 12:30 PM with a Funeral Service at 2:00 PM at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel, 20419 Hwy. 36, Covington, La., 70433.  Pastor Victor Kennison will officiate.
