Elaine Jannette (Smith) Carpenter

Elaine Jannette Smith Carpenter, 79 of Franklinton, La., passed away on Monday, August 10, 2026, with her family by her side.  She was a native of Columbia, La., former resident of Westwego, La. and a resident of Franklinton, La. for the past 19 years.  Elaine was a member of the Catholic faith and was a Homemaker.  She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.  Her passion was dancing, cooking, going to Mardi Gras, travelling and working in her yard.

Elaine was preceded in death by her Husband of 57 Years, Wendell Carpenter, Son, Thomas Dale Carpenter, Parents, Jesse & Ethel Biggs Smith, Brother, Jesse Wayne Smith Sr., Sisters, Brenda Gamble and Lucille Pearl Smith.

She is survived by her Daughters, Michelle Pitre of Franklinton, La., Rhonda Leveque of Franklinton, La. Wendy Tassin (Greg) of Westwego, La., Brother, Keith Smith (Kirsten) of Baton Rouge, La., 14 Grandchildren, 27 Great Grandchildren, Nieces, Nephews, Cousins, extended family and friends.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Covington, La.
