Earl Frank Cochran, Sr., 84, passed away peacefully at home in Mandeville, Louisiana, on February 28, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on October 11, 1940, Earl was a lifelong resident of St. Bernard Parish until he and his family relocated to Mandeville in 2005. He had a natural talent for working on automobiles and spent his career at Metairie Ford, Lamarque Ford, and finally Champs Collision Center before retiring in 2010. Earl was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family, ensuring they were always cared for.
Earl never met a stranger—wherever he went, he knew someone or made a new friend. He had a generous heart and was always willing to lend a helping hand. If something needed fixing, Earl could fix it.
Earl was a man of faith and served as an usher at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Violet, Louisiana. He also dedicated time to his community as a youth recreational baseball coach, where he took pride in guiding young players, instilling sportsmanship, and sharing his passion for the game. He enjoyed bowling and was an active member of a bowling league for many years.
Above all, Earl was a devoted family man. He often said his greatest accomplishment was his family, all of whom he loved unconditionally. His family was his greatest pride, and he never missed an opportunity to support them. Whether it was cheering on his children and grandchildren at the ball fields, basketball games, or dance recitals, he was always their biggest fan. Earl adored his grandchildren and spoiled them every chance he got. To him, there were no “in-laws”—only more family to love.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, and son, Earl Cochran Jr. He is survived by his beloved wife of 65 years, Frances “Jean” Aschebrock Cochran; his children, Kathy Felger Cochran (wife of Earl Jr), Glenn Cochran (Janet), Robert Cochran, Sr., Mary Cochran Doyle (Stephen), and Jennifer Cochran Leonard (former husband, Patrick Sr.); his treasured grandchildren: Earl (Jenny), David, and Emily (Payne) Cochran; Spencer, Christopher, Samantha, and Cooper Cochran; Robert Cochran, Jr. (Rebecca); Anthony (Benji) and Sean (Grace) Doyle; and Hailey (Patrick), Patrick Jr., and Grace Leonard; his great-grandchildren; and his sister, Ellen Dauzat.
Earl’s kindness, love, and unwavering dedication to his family will be deeply missed but forever cherished.
Arrangements are entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Covington, La.
