Donald Gerard Hentze, Jr. passed away at home on January 14, 2026. Raised in Arabi, La, Donald lead a tremendous life. He worked hard as a metal roofer creating his own business and leaving his mark on buildings all around the South. Donald was known by all as a great golfer and huge Saints fan. He loved the game, and he loved life, but most of all, Donald loved his family. Donald was extremely proud of his four children and his seven grandchildren. More than anything, Donald loved spending time with his devoted wife and love of his life, Tammy. He would often say to his wife, “we did good with our family”.
He is preceded in death by his parents Donald Hentze, Sr and Dolores Hentze, his in-laws Richard Volante, Sr and Eva Volante, and his brothers-in-law Richard Volante, Jr and Micheal Dixon.
Donald is survived by his loving wife of 47 wonderful years, Tammy Volante Hentze, and his children Donald G Hentze III (Monica), Joey A Hentze (Jamie), Russell E Hentze (Christine), and Rebecca H Varnado (Larry).
He is also survived by his little loves: Jace, Donald IV, Jorja, Dominick, Liam, Mila, and Quinn. His sisters and brothers: Donna Hendley (Herb), Debbie Dixon, Dale Fecke (Joe), Dorothy Hentze(Stephen), Dawn Conaway (David), David Hentze (Leslie), Dana Hentze, and Derich Hentze. His in-laws Jeannette Murry (Kenny), Wendy St. Romain (Bert), Kenneth Volante (Rhonda), Kathleen Bruscato (Jeff), Maria Romano (Mike), and Steve Volante (Stephanie). Along with lots of loving nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, at 9:30 AM with a Funeral Service at 11 :00 AM at Serenity Funeral Home Chapel.
Donald will be deeply missed, but he will forever remain in our hearts.
