David James LeBlanc, 59, of Abita Springs, LA., passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 13, 2026. His family is deeply shocked and saddened.
David grew up in Houma LA., and lived most of his adult life in Abita Springs, raising his family there. He was the devoted and loving father of and survived by the mother of his children, Melissa Ann LeBlanc, their three children David James LeBlanc II, Katie Ann LeBlanc and Jesse James LeBlanc. He was the loving son of and survived by his mother Laura Ardoin LeBlanc, by his four older siblings, Deborah Watkins (Richard), Ned LeBlanc III (Amy), Joan LeBlanc (Greg), Kenneth LeBlanc (Wendy), and his cherished and loving companion Jeanne Leonard Williamson. He is also survived by a loving extended family of six nephews and nieces, aunts and uncles, cousins, and others he considered family. He is preceded in death by his father Ned Louis LeBlanc Jr.
David was a seasoned professional in the offshore oil and gas production business for 37 years, with over 23 of those years working in Africa, advancing from Field Supervisor to Lead Control Room and Production Operator. His responsibilities included the commissioning, start-up, and operation of gas/condensation platforms and the mentorship of national team members to operate the control room. His professional development and training were extensive, including skill based training, and many advanced certifications. Known for his expertise and unwavering work ethic, he was frequently requested to work with certain teams, and was universally admired and respected by his peers, team members, and senior leadership. They loved working with him.
Though David had a successful career, he considered his children to be his most successful accomplishment in his life. When he wasn’t offshore, you’d find him with his children, as he was happiest when spending time with them. He loved them deeply and made sure they always knew it, and he was immensely proud of them. He supported them endlessly in all of their extracurricular activities, interests, and pursuits. Above all else, David’s children came first. He was, quite simply, the best father. He loved and enjoyed playing with his kids, working out with his sons, watching the New Orleans Saints games with family, hunting, fishing, camping, playing with his beloved dogs, working in his yard, caring for his dear mother in recent years, and cooking for his family. He was known by family and friends for his epic crawfish boils. They were the best. David’s warmth, compassion, gracious gentle ways, and sensitive kind heart were evident to all who knew him. If he loved you, you knew it. With warm eyes, an infectious smile, a hearty laugh, comforting hugs, and unshakable faith in God, David was unforgettable. His light shone brightly. He will be forever loved and missed by all of his family and friends.
