Billy Wayne Hubbard Jr.

It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we share the passing of our beloved Billy Wayne Hubbard Jr., 63, of Slidell, La., who left this world on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, surrounded by the love of his daughter and sister.

Born on March 9, 1962, in New Orleans, La. Billy lived a life marked by kindness, quiet strength, and an unwavering devotion to those he loved.  He had a way of showing up — steady, loyal, and always with a sense of humor that could lighten any moment.  Whether he was offering a helping hand, sharing a story, or simply sitting in silence with someone who needed it, his presence made people feel safe and seen.

Billy was a man of integrity, compassion, and quiet resilience.  He loved music, sharing a beer with friends, taking short road trips, spoiling his grandchildren and he found joy in the simple things such as a good cup of coffee, time with family, and a well-timed joke.  He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless memories that will be cherished forever.  Billy was a devoted employee, was a heavy equipment operator and retired from Boh Bros. after 45 years of service.

He is preceded in death by his Son, Billy W. Hubbard III, Parents, Billy and Joann Hubbard, Sister, Tellie Simmons and Niece TJ Simmons.

Billy is survived by his Daughter, Lauren Crawford of St. Bernard, La., Sister, Kellie Johnson of San Antonio, Texas, number one son-in-law who he loved like a son, Merlin Crawford of Denham Springs, La., 4 Grandchildren, Madisyn, Jay Jay, Baby Merlin, Baby Billie and 4 Nephews, Ethan, Aidan, Jamie, Vinny, close friend, Lisamarie and numerous friends.

Our hearts are broken, but we are grateful for every moment we shared with him.  His memory will live on in all of us who loved him.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12:00 Noon at Cy’s Bar, 817 East St. Bernard Hwy., Chalmette, La. 70043.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to a Masonic Lodge of your choice or simply take a moment to reach out to someone you love — just as he would have done.

Arrangements are entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Covington, La.
