Beth Ann Ruiz

Beth Ann Byrd Ruiz gained her wings at Ochsner Baptist Hospital in New Orleans, LA on the afternoon of Monday August 6, 2018, at the age of 49. She was born in New Orleans and lived in St. Bernard Parish all of her life spending her childhood in Hopedale. She worked as a waitress and tended bar at Antoine's in the French Quarter in New Orleans, Lehman’s Bar in Chalmette and also at Big Daddy’s in the Marigny district. She unselfishly gave of herself through the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA) to help others live. Her bright smile and her giving heart will be missed by her parents, her husband, her daughters, granddaughter, sisters, brothers, and all who known and loved her.

She is survived by her parents, Richard E. Byrd and Carole Chastant Byrd, her husband, Murphy J. Ruiz, her daughters Marissa Ruiz (Jared) and Meghan Ruiz, and her granddaughter, Menah Powell, who loving called her “BAM”. She was also the loving mother of the late Mathew Ruiz who she missed every day.

Beth is the sister of Dayna Byrd Fitzgerald (Mark), Robert Byrd, Sherri Byrd Lopez (Scott), and Scott Byrd (Fannie). She is the aunt to a host of nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews who loved her. A private service was held. Arrangements are entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Covington, LA.
