Allen Jerome Pilto passed away peacefully at his residence in Franklinton, LA, on Monday, January 18, 2021, after a long illness. Native of Chicago, former resident of California, Alaska, Oregon, and resident of Franklinton for the last 9 years. A graduate of Arroyo High School in El Monte, California, Allen (called Buzz by friends and family) was a cement mason by trade. He was elected Business Agent for the Plasterers Cement Masons International Association, Local Union 867 of Alaska, where he also served as a trustee for the Alaska Trowel Trades Pension Trust as well as their Apprenticeship Training Trust. During his retirement, he loved to putter around his properties, enjoying all sorts of do-it-yourself work, from building improvement to tinkering with his various vehicles and machinery. Listening to music, especially Golden Oldies, was another favorite pastime. His sharp wit and ready jokes, his striking blue eyes and bright smile, will be sorely missed. Devoted partner to Betty LeBoeuf Cathcart. Loving father of Rhonda Pilto of Southern California, and Carrie Pilto of Paris and Amsterdam. Fond grandfather of Camilah Leclère. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Judy and Robert Willison of Willow, Alaska, and their children Cheri Carter, Lori Smyklo, Richard Willison, and Julie Hodsdon. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Hazel Beall Pilto and Eino Pilto; and his sister Barbara Pilto Cagliero. A Memorial Service will be held on a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home of Covington, LA. Condolences and tributes can be posted at www.serenitycovington.com
