Alice Lipari Obituary

The family and friends of Alice Ursula Castille Lipari announce with sadness her peaceful passing surrounded by her family on April 24, 2026 at the age of 93 years old. Alice Ursula now joins the love of her life of the last 75 years, Charles Anthony Lipari, who preceded her in death, as well her parents E.J. “Eli” Castille and Eve Castille, her brothers E.J “Uncle Bud” Castille Jr. and Ronald Castille, and sisters Bernadine Castille Hebert, Carolyn Castille, as well granddaughter Amanda Coyne. She is survived by brothers Roger Castille and Ignatius “Iggie” Castille, as well as her little sister Winnie Dee Castille LeBleu. She bore six children, Charles “Chuck”  Lipari II, Matthew Lipari, Stephen Lipari, Bernadine Lipari, Ursula Lipari MacLeod, and Ronald Lipari, as well as grandchildren Madison Lipari, Jordan Lipari DeLellis, Anne-Marie Lipari, David Lipari, Brian Broussard, Sarah Broussard Bourgeois, Rachael Coyne, Jeremy Lipari, Jackson Charles Beamer, Georgia Kennedy Beamer, and great grandchildren, Gavin Bourgeois, Isabella Bourgeois, Gema Rose DeLellis and Charles Thomas DeLellis, and step grandsons Bobby Grindall and Aidan Joseph Murphy, and step granddaughter Jessica Grindall Dickinson, all of whom survive her.

Alice came into the world on September 17, 1932, at the height of the Great Depression at the family farm in Bellevue, Louisiana in St. Landry Parish. A tree-hugger before her time, Alice’s family fondly remembers her spending her days up in a tree. Her siblings say she was the member of the family who lit up every room she entered and managed to be the life of any party. It was large family that grew their own vegetables and shared all they had during this hard time in history, offering anyone who would stop in their travels looking for work a full stomach and a smile. In these tough times, Alice was proud of the Castille family’s resourcefulness, with her mother re-using and re-styling hand-me-down clothing two, three or even four times, into “new” beautiful clothing for each child. She attended Sacred Heart Parochial School and graduated from Sunset High School where she was a cheerleader, a softball player and a basketball player. She was proud of her athleticism as a young woman, and would go to play on the All Parish and Louisiana All Star Girls Basketball team. Alice served as Sunset High School’s Homecoming Queen and was on the Queen’s Court of the Yambilee Festival, which she often laughingly lamented was a crown she lost to her best friend and cousin. She later attended Our Lady of the Lake Nursing School in Baton Rouge and was a nurse at Opelousas General Hospital.

It was there she met Charles Anthony Lipari, who she always described as “the best looking boy in Opelousas.” He impressed her with those good looks, but also with his shared devotion to God. He attended weekday mass with her at St. Landry Parish Catholic Church, and only months later would escort her down he aisle as his wife. They began a lifetime of travels as Charles served in the U.S. Army and took on various vital roles in the development of the oil and gas industry, having a child or two along the way. Charles would take this small town girl away to places like Kentucky, California, and big city New Orleans, only to return to Cajun Country in Lafayette, Louisiana where their growing brood of six children completed the majority of their schooling. Alice spent her last 40 years in the community of Covington, Louisiana where she volunteered alongside Charles at the Covington Food Bank, Most Holy Trinity Parish Council, the Mardi Gras Crewe of Juno, and Forest Manor and Christwood Nursing Homes, where she often utilized her tremendous gifts of singing and dancing to energize her fellow residents and neighbors. To the end, Alice chose to be the life of the party.

The Lipari family is deeply touched by the care and concern offered to Alice in her final years, days and hours by the staff and management of Christwood Retirement community. Her peaceful departure from this world to heaven was only possible through the loving care given by this amazing place and the people there.
