Timothy Chris Lytle "Bongo Man" or "Boney"

May 4, 2021

Timothy Chris Lytle (“Bongo Man” or “Boney”) was born December 11, 1952 to Marvin and Geraldine Lytle while they were ministering in Anchorage, Alaska. He passed from this life to his Heavenly home on Tuesday, May 4, 2021 in New Orleans, Louisiana surrounded by loved ones. Following his parents’ ministry, Tim’s family left Alaska and moved to Tyler, TX and then Austin. While in Austin, he met the love of his life, Elaine Moore. They married, moved to Manor, and began their family. Later they relocated to Elaine‘s hometown in Louisiana. Tim enjoyed music and friends, camping with family, hanging out at the boat dock on his sailboat, and barbecuing. At a young age, Tim had a passion for creating music and shared it with those around him. He performed in bands (including Coconut Willie and the Excuses on the Northshore). He wrote lyrics and learned to play many instruments (including spoons, washboards, and buckets). Tim was a Master Finish Carpenter and had a special fondness for creating art from exotic woods. Others were drawn to his unique craftsmanship of things such as custom fireplace mantels, staircases, and trim work. Tim was always outgoing. Easy to get to know. Befriended quickly. The passion he had for woodwork and music, he carried through to loving those around him. He always loved life and loved the Lord. You could hear joy in his voice when he called out your name. His presence had an energy about it. He lived in the moment, for that day – for the ones he was around. He was preceded in death by his wife of 33 years, Elaine, and his parents Marvin and Geraldine Lytle. He was a devoted father to Monica Starr Lytle, Matthew Paul Lytle, Kate Rebecca Lytle, and Ian Seth-Thomas Lytle. He was a brother to Samuel, Daniel, Marva “Dee Dee” Huckabee, Stephen, Jon Mark, and Jonathan David. He was a loving grandfather to Christopher, London, Brent, Ciara, Mackenzie, Madison, and Aubrey. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a visitation from 4:30 PM until 7 PM, Monday, May 10, 2021 at Serenity Funeral Home, 20419 Highway 36, Covington, LA 70433. Private interment will be held at Abita Springs Cemetery. A Celebration of his Life will be planned for a later date at Bonfouca Marina in Slidell, LA. Condolences and tributes can be posted at www.serenitycovington.com
