Shirley Porche Reggio

Shirley Porche Reggio (95), passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2022 with her loving family surrounding her while listening to her favorite music Fats Domino’s “Walking to New Orleans”. She was the widow of Donald Reggio and the matriarch of the Porche family. Her career started at the Weather Bureau in New Orleans where she worked during WWII. A retired LPN who loved nursing and worked at Baptist Hospital, East Jefferson Hospital, and various other healthcare facilities during her career. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, and her family cherishes her memory. She is survived by her three children with Ellery Ferrara, Sr: Brenda Justison (David), Beverly Villemuer, and Ellery P. Ferrara, Jr. (Fran), along with two stepdaughters Donna and Dawn Reggio. Also survived by a sister Joy Zullo, and brother Larry Porche. She was a loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren who called her Mee Maw. She was an amazing aunt to a host of nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Reggio, daughter Barbara Blow, parents Edith LeBlanc Porche and Walter Porche, brothers Norman Porche, Walter Porche, Jr., Cyril Porche, and sisters Genevive Ribsamen and Elnet Grady. She was a resident of Forest Manor Nursing Home for the last several years where the staff took amazing care of her and many called her Maw Maw. She loved to play bingo and had many friends who will certainly miss her wittiness, strong opinions and life lessons. Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Service on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Cornerstone Church, 23051 LA-1088, Mandeville, LA.
