Robert Labat Obituary

Robert T. Labat, resident of St. Bernard, passed away peacefully, at his home, surrounded by his devoted wife, Judy, his youngest daughter, Roxanne and his grandson, Jerritt, on Thursday morning, January 12, 2017, at the age of 71. He was born in Gramercy, Louisiana to the late Norman and Mary Earline Labat, and resided in St. Bernard. He served for four years in the Marine Reserves when he was younger, and was a welder by trade for many years. Robert and Judy ran a successful restaurant in Violet, LA. (Judy’s Country Kitchen) until Robert started working for St. Bernard Parish Mosquito Control, which he retired from in 2015. He stayed behind for Hurricane Katrina to help the Fire Department with search and rescue. Robert enjoyed hunting, fishing, and attending to his satsuma trees. He was the loving husband of Judy Couvillion Labat for 45 years. Devoted father of Robin Holcomb, her husband Clay and Roxanne Labat. Devoted brother of Janice Alessi, Norman, Wayne, Etienne and Donny Labat and the late George, Perry & Ernest Labat and Linda Jackson. Grandfather of Jerritt Labat, and Haley & Paige Holcomb. Robert will always be remembered as a kind, generous and loving man, with a terrific sense of humor and a will to live.
