Oliver "Sam" Bridges

Oliver “Sam” Calhoun Bridges, III passed away in Covington on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at the age of 76. Sam was born and lived all his life in New Orleans until 2005 when he moved to Abita Springs. He graduated from Francis T. Nicholls High School, served two years with the Navy Seabees, employed by Boh Brothers Construction since 1965 as a heavy equipment operator and crane operator. He retired in 2010. He is also retired from Local Union 406. All his spare time was spent with his grandson. Loving wife of Joy Uhl Bridges. Son of the late Oliver C. Bridges, Jr and Catherine St. Julien Bridges. Devoted father of Susan Ann Bridges Trahan and Brian W. Bridges and his wife Michelle. Grandfather of Luke A. Trahan. Brother of Dollie Wortman (Joey) and Bridget Watkins and the late Roger Bridges, Neal Bridges, Don Bridges, Nancy Bridges, and Daniel Bridges. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at St. Jane de Chantal Catholic Church, 72020 Maple St., Abita Springs on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at 11:00am. Visitation at the church beginning at 10:00am. Inurnment immediately following at 1:00pm at Southeast La. Veterans Cemetery, Slidell. Condolences can be posted at www.serenitycovington.com
