Norma Jean (Butterfield) DeVorss, passed away peacefully in her home on Thursday,

as a secretary. In her spare time she loved to cross stitch and crochet. She made special

items for her family including bedspreads, bed throws, and other items she would give

as gifts. Her intricate cross stitching included the portraits of all of her grandchildren

and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed flowers, plants, and especially

hummingbirds.

Norma is survived by her loving husband of 70 years, Frank DeVorss, of whom she was

responsible for his acceptance of Jesus Christ, daughter Linda (DeVorss) Howarth of

Mandeville, LA, son David DeVorss and his wife Nelva of Bartlesville, OK, son John

DeVorss and his wife Mary Sue of Fate, TX; seven grandchildren Brad and his wife

A’Lissa, Sherri and her husband Chris, Rachel, Kimberly and her husband Jeremy,

Isla, and sister Gertrude Ward of Wichita, KS. Norma is preceded in death by her

parents, Claude and Leona, four sisters Orrill, Letha, Lorana, and Louise, three brothers

Prior to Norma’s death, family and friends came to her home to visit and express their

love. Loved ones were by her side when she took her final breath. Therefore, there will

not be a Memorial Service. Memorial gifts can be given either to the 1st Baptist Church

in Covington, LA or 1st Baptist Church Kenner, LA to continue the work of her Lord and

Savior Jesus Christ with whom she is now in His presence.
