Ned Cadella Obituary

Ned J. Cadella passed away peacefully in his sleep at home Wednesday, June 30, 2021, at the age of 85. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Dorothy (Dottie) Bishop Cadella, and five children, Greg Cadella, Gwen Cadella Rader, Stephanie Cadella Leaumont (Tommy), Deirdre Cadella Saling (Milton deceased) and Eric Cadella (Patty). Twelve grandchildren; Casey (Alissa), Cody (Chelsi) Quin Cadella, Chad Rader, Jenny Rader Fink (Courtney), Christopher Carlock (Kaci), Cory Snape, Zachary, Erica and Ian Saling, Kaden and Khloe Cadella. Six great grandchildren and one on the way; Kinley, Cameron, Kellen, Cobie, Weslynn and Cayson. Preceded in death by his parents, Ned Logan Cadella and Beatrice Jenney Cadella, his sister Flora Mae Cadella Schmidt (Eddie), son-in-law, of the late Robert J. Bishop Sr and Dorothy Bishop LiRocchi, father-in-law of the late Neal Snape. Survived by his sister-in-law, Sandra B. Nunez (Harold deceased) and brother-in-law, Robert J. Bishop (Betty) and a host of nieces and nephews.



Father figure to Nora Walker and PawPaw figure to Brandon and Paige Gantar, Charlie Rader (Miranda) and Amie Rader Finnan (Brad). Ned worked with his father for 35 years as an Independent Falstaff Distributor. Upon closing the company, he worked for J.A. Hoerner & Company Wholesale Supply before opening his own office supply company, D & N Specialties, in the World Trade Center. Ned was a member of De La Salle’s first graduating class in 1953. He also attended LSU. Throughout his life he enjoyed playing softball in numerous leagues including the Knights of Columbus, E.D. White and Gentilly Councils, Jefferson Parish Adult League and Lakeshore Playground Sunday Morning Crew. He also coached baseball at Lakeshore where he touched the lives of many young players and also chaired many of the festivals and fairs. Ned was a member of the Cabrini’s Dads Club where he particularly enjoyed Jazz Fest parking, and to this day, they still serve his famous Bloody Mary’s. Later in life Ned was proud of his competing in the Senior Olympics and the Gold Medal he earned in weightlifting, he held the record for many years. We would also like to thank Odessa and Catherine of One Touch Sitting Service, and Nicole, Michelle, and Martha of Passages Hospice for the excellent and loving care they showed to Ned. To his dear friend Kenny who called him everyday and said “Captain, look for the sparkle.” Now Ned is the SPARKLE.



A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, July 9, 2021, 12:00 Noon at St. Francis Xavier catholic Church, 444 Metairie Road, Metairie, LA. Visitation at the church will begin at 10:00 am. Interment immediately following at Lakelawn Mausoleum.
