Michael Meany Obituary

Michael Meany, Sr. passed away on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his daughter’s home in Covington, LA surrounded by family. He was born in New Orleans, LA and lived in Metairie, LA for most of his life. He worked for the American Red Cross for several years and was a Jefferson Parish Police Officer for much of his life. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns, and spending time with his family. Loving husband of the late Betty Meany for 53 years. Son of the late Josephine Edson & Herbert Meany. Devoted father of Melissa Sandrock (Steven), Michael Meany, Jr., Angela Starkey (Fil), and Rebecca Schmalz (Chad). Brother of Lawrence Meany. Grandfather of Steven, Amanda, Joshua, Alicia, Samantha, Noa, Thea, and the great grandfather of Marissa, Lydia, Trip, Adrienne, and Amia. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at the home of Rebecca & Chad Schmalz on Saturday, April 3, 2021.
