Martin Shelby Desmond

Martin Shelby Desmond, Sr. passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 in Covington, LA at the age of 87. He was born in Folsom, LA and lived in Madisonville, LA for most of his life. He was a welder by trade. Martin, better known as Shelby, was a true nature enthusiast and lover of the sun. He was a porch guardian and Papa extraordinaire! He enjoyed being a baseball and football coach for decades, and he influenced the lives of many young boys.

Loving husband of Darlene Mary Carver Desmond for 61 ½ years. He is preceded in death by his parents Martin Richard Desmond and Anna Mae Murphy Desmond. Devoted father of Martin Shelby Desmond, Jr., Deanna Mae Desmond, Pamela Jean Desmond, the late Michael Alan Desmond, and the late Gregory Paul Desmond. He is preceded in death by all his siblings Arley Gilbert Desmond, Joseph Thomas Desmond, Selby Ann Desmond Plescia, Alice Valine Desmond Smith, and Linda Eva Desmond. Papa of Shelby Mae Desmond, Jeanne Marie Desmond, Anna Grace Desmond, and Aiden Michael Desmond.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Service at St. Anselm Catholic Church, 306 St. Mary St., Madisonville, LA 70447 on Saturday, January 22, 2022. Visitation begins at 10:00 AM and Mass begins at 11:00 AM.
