Lowron Melton Spell, Jr. passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at his home in Covington, LA at the age of 80. He was born in Independence, LA, and was a lifelong resident of Covington, LA.
He started Spells Welding Service in the 1970s, and had it for 10 years, where he employed many people. He was so successful with his business that he retired at the early age of 38.
In the 1980’s he built the “Oak Villa Trailer Estate”. He and his wife traveled all around the country, and mostly enjoyed traveling the western states in his bus and motor homes that he personally restored.
He was one of the founding members of “Cruisin the Coast”. He was influential with the Covington Block party, Covington Street Rods, and he was with the group “Southern Who”. “He lived a great and fulfilling life.”
Loving husband of the late June Campise for 55 years.
Son of the late Lowron Spell, Sr. and Tolvie Swaggerty Spell. Father of Kimmie Spell, and Kerry Spell Pennington (Mike).
Brother of Darrell, Ronnie (Hilda), Paul (Debra), Pamela Freeze (Mel), the late Douglas, Sammie, and Dorcas.
Loving and doting grandfather of Matthew, Teresa, Travis, and Chase. He is survived by 6 great grandchildren Remington, Genevieve, Benjamin, Karmen, John, and Mark.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend his Funeral Service on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Shepherd’s Care Ministries, 20115 LA-1081 (at Lee Rd.), Covington, LA 70435. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM, and Service will begin at 11:30 AM. Interment will immediately follow at Barker McManus Cemetery, Barker’s Corner, Highway 437, Covington, LA.
