Joseph Alphonso Obituary
Joseph Tyrone Alphonso, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the age of 70. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Joseph Alphonso and his mother, Ruby Evelyn Alphonso. He is the beloved husband of Julie Alphonso, they were happily married for 27 years. He is survived by three children Rebekah Kathleen Alphonso, Michelle Nicole Okiyama and Jodi Evelyn Alphonso and his grandchildren John Okiyama and Jackson Okiyama. He is also survived by his siblings, Roland (Jenelle) Alphonso, Raymond Alphonso, Kathy (Daryl) Acosta and Ruby (Bob) Mark. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Joseph worked for Electro Coal as a tugboat captain until he retired in 2003. He most recently worked at Northshore Church where he diligently and faithfully served as his church’s cleaning and maintenance man. He was known for his dry, quick witted sense of humor and his ability to fix just about anything. After becoming a Christian in 1989, he devoted himself to living for and learning more about his Savior, Jesus. He took great joy in sharing his faith. Joseph loved his family, church, motorcycle, the game of chess and classical music. He had an especially ardent love for Beethoven’s 9th Symphony Second Movement.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at Northshore Church, 310 Kensington Blvd Slidell, LA. The doors will open at 10:00am with a service at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to Northshore Church’s V2R building fund.
