Hazel Rupert Obituary
Hazel Wonycott Rupert passed away on Friday, August 27, 2021 in Covington, Louisiana at the age of 81. She was born in Atlanta, Georgia and lived in New Orleans for most of her life.
Hazel was a medical technician working for Tulane School of Medicine, Hunt Laboratory, LabCorp and Omega Hospital throughout her 40 year career. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and being a sous chef for her husband, Ashton, preparing for and hosting annual holiday celebrations. She was an avid gardener, who also enjoyed sewing and, strangely enough, ironing.
Loving wife of the late Ashton Rupert. Daughter of the late Charles Wonycott, Sr. and Hazel Ball Wonycott. Devoted mother of Kevin (Maria), Craig (Trish), and Brad (Shanda). Sister of Charles Wonycott, Jr., Michael Wonycott, and Celeste Rupert. Aunt of Charles Wonycott, III, Monica Chiappetti, and Angél Kytle. Grandmother of Kendal Cochran, Alexa Bryant, Remy Rupert, Grant Rupert, Jase Rupert, Ashlyn Rupert, Jake Rupert, and Hudson Rupert. Great Grandmother of Marley Majors and Evan Cochran. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at Passages Hospice, Integra Care Medical Staffing, and The Trace for their compassion and care of Hazel.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 501 Holy Trinity Drive, Covington, LA 70433 at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 16, 2021. Visitation begins at 9:00 AM. Inurnment will take place at St. Lazarus Cemetery, 450 Holy Trinity Dr., Covington, LA 70433.
