Eugene Sheldon Mayeaux

Eugene Sheldon Mayeaux, Jr. “Mayo” passed away on Sunday, March 7, 2021 in Abita Springs, LA at the age of 97. He was born in Baton Rouge, LA and lived in Baton Rouge for his entire life. Eugene was proud of his service in the U.S. Navy in WWII. He was a member of the IBEW Local #995 for 75 years. Husband of the late Wanda Cowart Mayeaux. Father of Judy Fuentes, Danny Mayeaux, Patti Achord, Randy Mayeaux, and the late Gene Mayeaux. He is preceded in death by his parents Eugene Sheldon Mayeaux, Sr. and Henrietta Moreau Mayeaux, and his siblings Inez Gerald, Elloise Taylor, and Dot Sharp. Grandfather of Greg, Leighann, Kristen, Danielle, Christopher, Daniel, Jacquelyn, and Jessica. Great grandfather of Billy, Kaden, Riley, Ethan, Emma, Evan, Tash, and Charles. Mayo accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and has now gone home. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Graveside Service at Cowart Cemetery, 31120 Cowart Bush Rd., Bush, LA 70431 on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 11:30 AM. A reception will immediately follow at Hebron Baptist Church, 79614 Highway 41, Bush, LA 70431. In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to a charity of the giver’s choice.
