Eric Monson Lyman, devoted husband, son, brother, and friend to many passed away quietly on March 14, 2017, at the age of 54. Adopted in Germany by loving American parents, Eric traveled the world and had many adventures as part of a military family and later in the military himself. He spoke Spanish like a native and would strike up a conversation with others who shared the language. Home for most of his life was Utah and he fiercely loved the mountains, he frequently explored. He and his wife Michele met later in life and enjoyed nearly 18 happy years together. After moving to Louisiana, Eric fell in love with the food and culture and it became his adopted home. Throughout their years together they shared their lives with several dogs and cats, including their schnauzer, Nola and Maine Coon Endymion. Even as his health began to decline, he continued to enjoy life in the New Orleans area. Eric is survived by his wife Michele (Darcè) of Gretna, parents Scott and Lyn Lyman of Orem, Utah, sisters Sue Lyman of Lehi, Utah, Kate Soter (Greg), of Orem, Utah, and Karen Bennett (David) of Salem, Utah, and brother David Lyman (Michelle) of Saratoga Springs, Utah, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Do not stand at my grave and weep, I am not there. I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there. I did not die.
