Emma Berhel Obituary
Emma Jean Smith Berhel passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021, in Lacombe, Louisiana at the impressive age of 90. She was born in Beaumont, TX, in 1930, moved to California where she graduated high school and was married. She then resided in Gardena, CA for over thirty years and eventually moved to Lacombe for the last years of her life.
Her final days were spent surrounded by her 95 year old loving husband, LeRoy, of 71 years. She was an endearing mother to four children, three daughters, Danielle (Len), Paulette (Tony) and Denise, one son, LeRoy, a loving grandmother of seven; Sean, Jennifer, Robert, Sara, Aaron, Renèe and Gabrielle, and a great grandmother to 10.8. She is also survived by her sister, Gertrude, 99 years old and many nieces and nephews. She was a retired manicurist who resided in Lacombe for 40+ years. She was known for her wise advice, warm feelings and tremendous devotion to her loved ones. She was a true “lady” with a quirky personality, fantastic sense of humor and due to her special kindness, was a true, distinctive friend. She loved to cook and hands down made the BEST FRIED CHICKEN EVER. Because of the COVID pandemic, the family has opted to hold her cremains until the passing of her husband. They will both be interred at Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery in Slidell, LA at which time services will be held. Arrangements entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home, Covington, LA.
