Eloise Badickino Obituary

Our parents give us life. Our grandparents give us a sense of who we are and where we came from. This week, our family says goodbye to Eloise (Lois) Rosalie Mercier Badickino. She died peacefully with family on April 20, 2018. She was 90. Eloise was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on January 23, 1928 to Ernest (Ernie) Mercier and Rosalie (Rosie) Lawrence Mercier. She married Arthur (Boogie) Joseph Badickino, her teenage sweetheart, on April 19, 1944. Eloise leaves behind a large family that will miss her deeply. Her daughters Marlene Badickino Stout, Mary Ann Badickino, Anna Badickino Ashe, Peggy Badickino Glynn; son-in-law Robert Glynn (Bob); 8 grandchildren Sherri Ann Stout, Joseph Stout Jr. (Cyndi), Pamela Stout Behel, Stephanie Stout Wheelock (Tom), Sonya Glynn Riche (Bryan), Tammy Glynn Keppel (Rick), Gregory Ashe, and Ryan Ashe; nephew Kenneth LeFebvre (Nettie); 15 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren. Eloise was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sisters Shirley Mary Mercier and Catherine Mercier LeFebvre, and brother-in-law Leopold (Leo) LeFebvre. A native of New Orleans, she spent many years living on Lesseps Street in the Ninth Ward before moving to Cougar Drive in Arabi, LA. Eloise relocated to Center Star, Alabama, along with many members of her family, after Hurricane Katrina destroyed her home in 2005. Eloise was a meticulous homemaker who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and decorating her home. She loved decorating a tree at Christmas and wearing a costume during Mardi Gras. She was also a devout Catholic who loved Jesus and prayed the rosary daily. How incredibly lucky we have been to have our lovely mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother with us for 90 years. Eloise was an unmovable force in our family who loved us all fiercely, the backbone and matriarch of our family. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at Serenity Funeral Home, 20419 Hwy 36, Covington, LA, on Friday evening, April 27, 2018, from 6:00pm until 9:00pm. On Saturday, April 28, 2018, a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 2805 Bayou Road, St. Bernard, LA at 12:00 noon. The visitation at the church on Saturday begins at 10:00am. Interment immediately following at St. Bernard Catholic Cemetery, St. Bernard, LA.
